Pyrrhura rupicola
The Tepui Parakeet (Pyrrhura rupicola) is a small parrot species found in the tepui regions of southern Venezuela and adjacent parts of Brazil and Guyana. These parakeets are known for their vibrant plumage, which includes shades of green, red, and blue. They are highly social birds, often seen in flocks as they forage for fruits, seeds, and berries in the forest canopy. Tepui Parakeets are well adapted to the rugged and remote habitats of the tepui mountains, where they nest in tree cavities and rocky crevices. While their populations are currently stable, deforestation and habitat degradation pose potential threats to their future survival.
