Thick-billed Flowerpecker

Gypsophila crassa

The Thick-billed Flowerpecker (Gypsophila crassa) is a small passerine bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its thick, short bill and vibrant plumage. The male has a glossy blue-black head, back, and wings, with a bright red patch on its throat and breast. The female is more subdued in color, with olive-green upperparts and a pale gray underbelly. These tiny birds are highly active and agile, flitting through the foliage in search of nectar, fruits, and insects. They are known for their melodious and high-pitched calls, often heard echoing through the forest canopy.
