Rhynchopsitta pachyrhyncha
The Thick-billed Parrot, also known as the Imperial Parrot, is a strikingly colored parrot species native to the high-altitude pine-oak forests of Mexico. Recognized for its vibrant green plumage, red forehead, and distinctive thick bill, this medium-sized parrot is known for its social nature and raucous calls that echo through the mountainous landscapes. The Thick-billed Parrot is primarily herbivorous, feeding on pine seeds and other forest fruits. Unfortunately, this species faces significant threats from habitat loss and illegal trapping for the pet trade, leading to its classification as endangered by the IUCN.
