Thick-billed Saltator, Saltator maxillosus, is a passerine of the Thraupidae family that breeds in south-east Brazil and north-east Argentina. It lives in highland Atlantic Forest, forest edges, gardens and local mountain areas. Its most notable feature is the very heavy bill, and the sexes differ in plumage. Females are like a green-winged saltator but with a thicker bill, a greener face and a buff throat. Males have a long white eyebrow, a grey back and a black and orange bill, with the amount of orange varying. It is monotypic.
