Three-streaked Tchagra, Tchagra jamesi, is a bird of north-east Africa, recorded from Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda, and it lives in dry savanna and subtropical or tropical dry shrubland. It is a small tchagra and can be told from other tchagras by the narrow black stripe running along the centre of the crown, with no eyebrow stripe. The tertials and rectrices are mouse-brown. The male performs a display in flight by flicking the wings, then gives a run of down-slurred whistles. It feeds mainly on insects and may also take chicks of other birds.
