Three-wattled Bellbird

Procnias tricarunculatus

The Three-wattled Bellbird is a large, fruit-eating bird found in the cloud forests of Central America. Males are known for their distinctive, three long, thin wattles hanging from the base of their bill. They have a loud, distinctive call that carries through the forest, and they are known for their unique courtship displays. These birds play an important role in seed dispersal and forest regeneration. They are threatened by habitat loss and hunting for their meat and feathers.
