Tibetan Blackbird, Turdus maximus, is a thrush of the Himalayas from northern Pakistan to southeastern Tibet. It belongs to the family Turdidae and was first described by Seebohm in 1881. It is a relatively large thrush, and it can be told from the common blackbird by the absence of an eye-ring and by its reduced song. It lives on steep grassy and rocky slopes and in alpine meadows above the tree line, usually at 3,200–4,800 metres, dropping lower in winter but seldom below 3,000 m. Breeding runs from May to July.
