Tibetan Rosefinch

Carpodacus rhodochlamys

The Tibetan Rosefinch (Carpodacus rhodochlamys) is a striking bird found in the high-altitude regions of the Tibetan Plateau and surrounding areas. This finch species is known for its vibrant plumage, with the males displaying a brilliant crimson coloration on their heads, breast, and back, while the females exhibit a more subdued brownish-gray plumage. They are often found in alpine meadows, scrublands, and rocky slopes, foraging for seeds, insects, and berries. These social birds are often seen in small flocks and are known for their melodious calls. The Tibetan Rosefinch is well-adapted to the harsh mountainous environment, where it faces threats from habitat degradation and climate change.
