Tibetan Snowcock

Tetraophasis obscurus

The Tibetan Snowcock is a large, ground-dwelling bird found in the high-altitude mountain ranges of Central Asia. It has a distinctive appearance with a predominantly gray plumage, mottled with white and black, and a red facial patch. This species is well-adapted to its alpine habitat, with sturdy legs and feet that enable it to navigate steep, rocky terrain. The Tibetan Snowcock is known for its haunting calls that echo through the mountain valleys. It is primarily herbivorous, feeding on alpine plants and grasses. Due to its remote and rugged habitat, this species is not frequently encountered by humans.
