Tickell's Blue Flycatcher

Tickell's Blue Flycatcher, Cyornis tickelliae, is a passerine of the Oriental Region in South Asia, where it breeds across the Indian subcontinent and into Bangladesh and western Myanmar. It belongs to the Muscicapidae, the family of chats and Old World flycatchers. It is found in dry forest, scrub, bamboo and gardens, and also in thick cover and shade, especially along wooded stream banks. The bird is known for its blue upperparts and its rufous throat and breast. The name honours the wife of the British ornithologist Samuel Tickell, who worked in India and Burma.
