Tickell's Thrush

Tickell's Thrush, Turdus unicolor, breeds in the western and central Himalayas and spends the nonbreeding season in northern India and Pakistan. It is a passerine thrush of the family Turdidae, found in open forest and other wooded places in its mountain range. The species was described by Tickell in 1833. It nests from April to June, using mostly dry grass. Its breeding range extends through the Himalayas, and in winter it moves south and to lower altitudes. The name honours Samuel Tickell, a British ornithologist who worked in India and Burma.
