Thraupidae — Tanagers & Allies
Tit-like Dacnis, Xenodacnis parina, is a passerine of the Thraupidae family that breeds in high Andean southern Peru. It lives in Andean montane scrub forest between 3000 m and 4600 m, and also occurs in southern Ecuador. First described by Cabanis in 1873, it is the only species in Xenodacnis. The name reflects its resemblance to a tit. Adult males are deep blue with dark eyes, bill and feet, while females are less vivid and show rufous-brown underparts.
