Foulehaio carunculatus
The Tongan Whistler (Foulehaio carunculatus) is a medium-sized songbird native to the islands of Tonga in the South Pacific. It is known for its distinctive whistling calls and striking appearance. The bird has a robust build with a prominent, fleshy, orange-red caruncle at the base of its bill. Its plumage is predominantly olive-green with a yellow belly and white markings on the wings. The Tongan Whistler is primarily insectivorous, foraging in the forest canopy and understory. It plays a vital role in the ecosystem by controlling insect populations. Despite its limited range, the species is relatively common within its habitat and is not currently considered threatened.
