Tooth-billed Pigeon, Didunculus strigirostris, breeds on Savaii and Upolu in western Samoa, in the central Pacific. It is a pigeon in the family Columbidae and the order Columbiformes, and it is the only surviving member of its genus. Also called the manumea, it is native to Samoa’s primary rainforest. The species is the national bird of Samoa and appears on the 20 tālā notes and 50 sene coins of the 2008/2011 series. It was described by Jardine in 1845.
