Townsend's Solitaire

Townsend's Solitaire, Myadestes townsendi, is a thrush of North America and Middle America, breeding from western Canada to central Mexico. It is the only solitaire native to America north of Mexico. It lives in montane woodland, and in winter it can shift to lower ground, reaching the Great Plains, northern interior Mexico and desert oases. The bird has a short, dark bill, a white eye ring and grey plumage with a buff wing stripe. Its tail is long and white-edged, and it often sits upright and still on high branches.
