Townsend's Warbler

Setophaga townsendi

Townsend's Warbler is a small songbird with a striking appearance. It has a yellow face with a black cap, a yellow throat, and olive-green upperparts. The underparts are bright yellow, and it has white wing bars. This species is known for its active foraging behavior, often flitting through coniferous trees in search of insects. Townsend's Warblers breed in coniferous forests in western North America and migrate to Mexico and Central America for the winter. They are often found in high elevation forests and are known for their distinctive high-pitched song. This species is an important indicator of the health of coniferous forests.
