Tree Pipit

Anthus trivialis

The Tree Pipit (Anthus trivialis) is a small passerine bird found in open woodlands, grasslands, and moorlands across Europe and western Asia. It is known for its distinctive, melodious song, often delivered in flight. Tree Pipits feed primarily on insects and are known for their aerial foraging behavior, frequently catching prey mid-air. During the breeding season, they build cup-shaped nests on the ground, hidden within vegetation. The species is migratory, wintering in sub-Saharan Africa. Tree Pipits are generally inconspicuous birds, blending in with their surroundings, and are best observed during their display flights.
