Tricolored Brushfinch

Atlapetes tricolor (Taczanowski, 1875)

Tricolored Brushfinch, Atlapetes tricolor, is a passerine in the New World sparrow family and is found in Peru. It lives on the eastern Andean slope, from northern La Libertad Department to west-central Cuzco Department. Its habitat includes shrubby margins and clearings in humid forest, secondary forest and open cloudforest. The species is resident throughout the year. Adults show the same plumage in both sexes, with a yellow to ocraceous crown and nape, a black face, and yellow underparts with an olive wash. Juveniles are brown above and paler below.
