Diomedea dabbenena

The Tristan albatross (Diomedea dabbenena) is a large seabird with a wingspan of up to 3.5 meters. It is predominantly white with black outer wings and a pink bill. These majestic birds are known for their graceful gliding flight over the southern oceans. They breed on the remote islands of Gough and Inaccessible in the South Atlantic, where they form lifelong pair bonds. Tristan albatrosses feed on fish, squid, and crustaceans, foraging over vast areas of open ocean. Due to their restricted breeding range and threats from fisheries bycatch and invasive species, they are classified as Endangered by the IUCN.
