Tropical Boubou

Laniarius major (Hartlaub, 1848)

Tropical Boubou, Laniarius major, is a passerine of the bushshrike family that breeds in western and central Africa, extending south to southern Zambia and northern and central Mozambique. It is a member of a complex group that has been split from what was once treated as a single species. Adults are alike in appearance, with glossy blue-black upperparts and tail, white underparts, a black bill, bluish grey legs and feet, and dark reddish-brown eyes. A white wing stripe is usually present, and some birds also show white on the outer tail feathers.
