Tropical Parula

Setophaga pitiayumi

The Tropical Parula is a small, neotropical warbler found in the Americas. It is known for its distinctive blue-gray upperparts, yellow throat, and white underparts with streaking on the flanks. This species is often found in humid forests, where it forages for insects and spiders in the canopy and mid-levels of the trees. The Tropical Parula is known for its high-pitched, buzzy song, which is often heard before the bird is seen. Although it is not currently considered to be globally threatened, deforestation and habitat loss are potential threats to its populations.
