Tucuman Amazon

Amazona tucumana

The Tucuman Amazon, also known as the Tucuman parrot, is a striking species of parrot found in the subtropical and montane forests of northwestern Argentina. These parrots are known for their vibrant plumage, which consists of predominantly green feathers with splashes of red and blue on the wings and tail. They are highly social birds, often seen in flocks, and are known for their raucous calls and playful behavior. The Tucuman Amazon primarily feeds on fruits, seeds, and nuts, and plays a vital role in seed dispersal within its forest habitat. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, the Tucuman Amazon is facing increasing threats to its survival.
