Brotogeris sanctithomae (Müller, PLS, 1776)

Tui Parakeet, Brotogeris sanctithomae, is a parrot of the Amazonia region in South America, breeding in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Peru, with possible records from Ecuador. It belongs to the family Psittacidae and was described by Müller in 1776. The nominate form occurs in the Amazon Basin of south-eastern Colombia, eastern Peru, northern Bolivia and Brazil as far east as the Rio Madeira, while another subspecies ranges along the lower Amazon to the Atlantic. It is mainly associated with semi-open country, including secondary forest, grassland with trees, river edges, scrubby islands and várzea margins.
