Tumbes Tyrant

Tumbes Tyrant, Tumbezia salvini, is a passerine of north-west Peru, where it breeds in arid woodland and scrub. It is mainly associated with groves of Acacia and Prosopis mesquite, and it is often found close to dry watercourses. The species was first described by Taczanowski in 1877. It is a member of the Tyrannidae, the tyrant flycatchers, and its range is centred in the Tumbes region of Peru. It also occurs in extreme south-west Ecuador, but its breeding range is given as north-west Peru.
