Cotinga ridgwayi
The Turquoise Cotinga is a striking bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. Males are a vibrant turquoise color, while females are a more subdued greenish-blue. They are known for their distinctive calls and are often seen perched high in the canopy, feeding on fruits and insects. These birds play an important role in seed dispersal within their forest habitats. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the Turquoise Cotinga faces threats from deforestation and human disturbance.
