Syndactyla ucayalae
The Ucayali Antwren (Syndactyla ucayalae) is a small passerine bird found in the Amazon rainforest of Peru and Brazil. It is characterized by its distinctive black and white plumage, with males having a black crown and females having a rufous crown. These birds forage for insects and small invertebrates in the dense understory of primary and secondary lowland rainforests. They are often observed in mixed-species flocks, where they emit high-pitched calls and engage in rapid, acrobatic movements. The Ucayali Antwren is currently listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List, but its population trend is unknown due to limited data.
