Udzungwa Forest Partridge Xenoperdix udzungwensis lives in southern Tanzania, where it is confined to the Udzungwa and Rubeho mountain ranges. It is a galliform in the pheasant family, first described in 1994 by Dinesen, Lehmberg, Svendsen, Hansen and Fjeldså. The nominate form occurs in the Udzungwa Mountains, while obscuratus is known from the Rubeho highlands. It occupies montane evergreen forest with closed or partly closed canopy, especially where the understorey is open and the ground has leaf litter and Cyperus sedges.
