Unicolored Antwren

Myrmotherula unicolor

The Unicolored Antwren is a small, insectivorous bird found in the Amazon rainforest of South America. It is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with the male having a black crown and the female having a rufous-brown crown. These birds are often found in the understory of dense, humid forests, where they forage for insects and small invertebrates. They are known for their high-pitched, insect-like calls and are often observed in mixed-species foraging flocks. The Unicolored Antwren is not currently considered to be at risk, although deforestation and habitat loss are potential threats to its long-term survival.
