Upland Buzzard, Buteo hemilasius, is a bird of prey in the Accipitridae family. It breeds across central and south-eastern Asia, reaching south-eastern Siberia and north-east China, and it also occurs in northern Oregon outside the breeding season. It is found in mountainous grassland and stony terrain. Described by Temminck and Schlegel in 1845, this buzzard is the largest member of the Buteo genus. It is migratory, usually moving only a short distance, apparently to escape snow that can make catching prey harder.
