The Ussher's Eagle-Owl (Scotopelia ussheri) is a large and powerful owl species found in the dense tropical forests of West Africa. It is characterized by its striking orange eyes, prominent ear tufts, and mottled brown and grey plumage. This nocturnal bird preys on small mammals, birds, and insects, using its keen eyesight and sharp talons to capture its prey. Ussher's Eagle-Owls are solitary and territorial, nesting in tree cavities and laying 1-2 eggs per clutch. They are known for their haunting hoots and calls that echo through the forest at night.
