Oenanthe picata

The Variable Wheatear (Oenanthe picata) is a small, insectivorous bird found in open, arid habitats across parts of North Africa and the Middle East. This species is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with a black mask and white eyebrow stripe. The Variable Wheatear is often observed perched on rocks or low shrubs, where it scans the ground for prey. It is a migratory species, spending the breeding season in its northern range and wintering in sub-Saharan Africa. This bird is known for its agile and acrobatic flight, often darting and hovering to catch flying insects.
