Varied Honeyeater, Gavicalis versicolor, is a honeyeater of coastal New Guinea and north-east Australia, including the Cape York Peninsula. It is part of the family Meliphagidae and breeds in Australasia. Its range also includes the Torres Strait islands and nearby coastal areas. The bird was first described by Gould in 1843. It was formerly placed in Lichenostomus, but later moved to Gavicalis after molecular work showed that the earlier genus did not form a natural group.
