Varied Lorikeet

Psephotellus dissimilis

The Varied Lorikeet (Psephotellus dissimilis) is a small parrot species native to Australia. It is known for its vibrant plumage, featuring a combination of green, yellow, and red feathers. These lorikeets are highly social birds and are often found in flocks, especially in woodland and forested areas. They are nectar and pollen feeders, using their specialized brush-tipped tongues to extract food from flowers. Varied Lorikeets are also known for their playful and acrobatic behaviors, often seen darting through the treetops with agility. While they are not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to their populations.
