Lalage leucomela (Vigors & Horsfield, 1827)

Campephagidae — Cuckooshrikes

Varied Triller, Lalage leucomela, is a passerine of the cuckooshrike family found in southern New Guinea and its satellites, the Bismarck Archipelago, and northern and eastern Australia. It was described by Vigors & Horsfield in 1827. In its range it is associated with rainforest, vine forest, river-edge thickets, eucalypt forest and woodland, especially where closed and open forest meet. It is a member of Campephagidae and is a smaller relative of the white-winged triller. An alternative name is Pied Caterpillar-eater, and the Mussau triller was once treated as a subspecies.
