Variegated Laughingthrush

Trochalopteron variegatum (Vigors, 1831)

Variegated Laughingthrush, Trochalopteron variegatum, is a bird of the Himalayas in Bhutan, India, Nepal and Tibet. It lives in the northern Indian subcontinent at low to middle elevations. A member of the Leiothrichidae, it is marked by a dark line running through the throat and a generally olive and buff look. Its tail is long, with a grey band near the end and a white tip. The two subspecies differ in the outer tail feathers and in the wing plumage, and the face shows a black area around the bill with a white eye-ring.
