Variegated Tinamou

Variegated Tinamou, Crypturellus variegatus, is a tinamou in the family Tinamidae and the order Tinamiformes. It occurs in South America, with its breeding range in Amazonia and eastern Brazil. It is associated with moist forest lowlands in the north of the continent, and also with humid lowland forests that have thick undergrowth. Its recorded range includes several countries in northern and eastern South America. The species was formally described in 1789. Tinamous are able to fly, although they are not strong fliers.
