Turdus sanchezorum O'Neill, Lane & Naka, 2011
Varzea Thrush, Turdus sanchezorum, is a thrush of the family Turdidae that breeds in western Amazonia in South America, with records from Brazil, Colombia and Peru. It was described as a distinct species in 2011 by O'Neill, Lane and Naka. The bird is tied to river corridors in the central and upper Amazon Basin and is mainly associated with várzea forest. In Peru’s San Martín region it also occurs in forest and savanna on white sand soils near várzea, and there are recordings from eastern Ecuador that may extend its known range.
