Veraguan Mango

Anthracothorax veraguensis

The Veraguan Mango is a medium-sized hummingbird found in the lowland forests of Panama. It has a striking iridescent green plumage on its upperparts and a vibrant rufous color on its underparts. The male has a deeply forked tail and a slightly curved bill, while the female has a shorter, straighter bill. This species is known for its agile flight and its distinctive buzzing sound created by its rapid wingbeats. The Veraguan Mango primarily feeds on nectar from a variety of flowers and occasionally catches insects in mid-air. It plays a vital role in pollination within its habitat.
