Veraguan Mango

Leptotrygon veraguensis

The Veraguan Mango is a small, vibrantly colored hummingbird species found in the lowland forests of Panama. It is known for its striking iridescent green and blue plumage, with a contrasting rufous belly and tail. These agile birds are often seen darting between flowers, feeding on nectar with their long, slender bills. They also consume small insects as a source of protein. The Veraguan Mango plays a vital role in pollination within its habitat, contributing to the diversity of plant species. However, like many tropical birds, it faces threats from habitat loss and fragmentation.
