Anaplectes rubriceps
The Vermilion Masked Weaver is a small bird native to eastern Africa. It is known for its striking appearance, with the male sporting a bright red head and chest, and the female having a more subdued brown plumage. These weavers are highly social birds, often seen in large flocks, and are known for their intricate and elaborate woven nests. They primarily feed on seeds and insects, foraging in open grasslands and cultivated areas. The Vermilion Masked Weaver is not currently considered at risk, but habitat loss and degradation could pose future threats to its population.
