Verreaux's Coua, Coua verreauxi, is a cuckoo of coastal far south Madagascar in the family Cuculidae. It lives in subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, including coastal euphorbia scrub in the southern spiny forest zone. The bird is named for French ornithologist and collector Jules Verreaux. It is also linked with a salt lake in the south of the island, where the surrounding area has been drying for a very long time and the living things there have adapted to save water. A sympatric species is the crested coua, C. cristata.
