Versicolored Emerald Chrysuronia versicolor is a hummingbird of Amazonia and south-eastern South America. It was placed in Amazilia until a later genetic study showed that arrangement did not reflect natural relationships, and it is now treated in Chrysuronia. The bird has a long, slightly downcurved bill that is black, with a pale base on the lower mandible that can sometimes be orange. Its upper body and flanks are coppery-green, the tail is coppery-green with a dark band near the tip, and the centre of the underparts is white. The throat, face and crown vary across its range.
