Goura victoria (Fraser, 1844)

Victoria Crowned Pigeon, Goura victoria, breeds in northern New Guinea and nearby islands, from Geelvink Bay in north-west New Guinea through the north-central, north-eastern and south-eastern parts of the island. It is a pigeon of lowland and swamp forest, especially on former alluvial ground and in sago forest, and it usually stays close to sea level. The bird is marked by a white-tipped crest, deep blue-grey plumage, a maroon chest and a black facial mask. It is the largest living pigeon, and both sexes look alike.
