Victoria's Riflebird

Ptiloris victoriae

Victoria's Riflebird is a species of bird found in the rainforests of northeastern Australia. The male is known for its striking iridescent plumage, with deep velvety black and shimmering blue-green colors. During courtship displays, the male bird performs elaborate dances to attract females. The female, in contrast, has more subdued plumage with shades of brown and white. These birds primarily feed on fruits and insects, and they play an important role in seed dispersal within their habitat. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and fragmentation, Victoria's Riflebird is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
