Lybius vieilloti

Vieillot's Barbet (Lybius vieilloti) is a medium-sized bird found in the forests and woodlands of West Africa. It has a distinctive appearance, with a colorful plumage and a stout, slightly curved bill. This species is known for its distinctive call, a series of loud, repetitive notes that echo through the forest. Vieillot's Barbet feeds on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates, and nests in tree cavities. It plays an important role in forest ecosystems as a seed disperser. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and fragmentation, the Vieillot's Barbet population is currently considered stable.
