Vieillot's Black Weaver, Ploceus nigerrimus, is a passerine in the weaver family and breeds across Africa from south-eastern Nigeria to southern Sudan, Uganda, western Kenya, western Tanzania, southern DR Congo and Angola. It was described by Vieillot in 1819. The bird takes its common name from the French ornithologist Louis Pierre Vieillot. It was once treated as the same species as the chestnut-and-black weaver, but the two were separated because of clear differences in plumage.
