Vietnamese Laughingthrush

Garrulax annamensis

The Vietnamese Laughingthrush (Garrulax annamensis) is a medium-sized bird found in the Annamite Range of Vietnam and Laos. It is known for its distinctive melodious calls and gregarious nature, often found in small flocks. This species has a striking black and white plumage with a rufous crown, and its long tail adds to its elegant appearance. The Vietnamese Laughingthrush primarily forages for insects and fruits in the dense undergrowth of montane evergreen forests, where it is most commonly found. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, this species faces threats, and its conservation status is currently categorized as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
