Amazona vinacea
The Vinaceous Amazon, also known as the Vinaceous Parrot, is a medium-sized parrot native to eastern Brazil. It has a predominantly green plumage with a distinct vinaceous (wine-colored) patch on its head and neck, giving it a striking appearance. These parrots are typically found in lowland and montane Atlantic Forest, where they forage for fruits, seeds, and flowers. They are known for their raucous calls and strong social bonds, often forming large flocks in the wild. Unfortunately, habitat loss and illegal trapping for the pet trade have led to a decline in their population, resulting in their classification as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
