Vinaceous Dove, Streptopelia vinacea, is a bird of Africa, breeding from Mauritania, Senegal and Gambia east to Eritrea, Ethiopia and Uganda. It is a common species of scrub and savannah across northern Sub-Saharan Africa. A small, stocky pigeon, it has pale brown upperparts, a pale pinkish-grey head and underparts, and a black hind-neck patch edged with white. In flight it shows a blackish underwing, and the tail has white. The sexes look alike, while young birds are duller.
