Violet-backed Hyliota

Hyliota violacea

The Violet-backed Hyliota is a small, insectivorous bird found in the woodlands and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa. It is characterized by its striking violet-blue back and contrasting white underparts. This species is known for its agile and acrobatic foraging behavior, often seen flitting among foliage and branches in search of prey. The Violet-backed Hyliota typically builds its cup-shaped nest in the fork of a tree, where it lays a small clutch of eggs. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential future concerns for this species.
